I am considering purchasing a Nokia 9300 since it is compatible with talks and is also a GSM unlocked phone. I would like to know if anyone here has one of these phones and what are their experiences with them? If they can possitively recommend one or if not, then why. Any suggestions or recommendations for other phone would also be appreciated. The one feature I am looking for is GSM unlocked.

Thanks,
cristobal

Where are you going to purchase this model? I've heard of gsm unlocked, but I thought they are really hard to come by?

May I share some thoughts? GSM unlocked simply means that the phone is not restricted to a particular carrier but will work on all networks providing the phone covers all the freequencys. There are 4 bands used in GSM: 800, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHZ. To work in the states you will want either a dualband 800/1900 mhz phone or a quad band phone which uses all the bands mensioned. If you are a TMobile subscriber 1900 will work however I have heard that they are allowing roaming on to cingular's 800 mhz network. So, when looking for an unlocked phone it is best to go for the quadband or the dualband 800-1900 mhz. Unlocked phones are usually a bit more expensive simply because they are not subcitized by a particular carrier. I belive it's worth the extra and usually buy my phones from ebay unlocked.
The 9300 offers the correct bands as well as if you go for the 9300I WiFi comes with it too. Go to www.phonescoop.com and in the edit box that says search for a phone type in 9300 and you will see specks and reviews. Looks nice for sure.

Love that phonescoop website! Thanks for the further info. I think I'd definitely go for the quod band phone. I believe all I'd need to do is buy a prepaid sim card in the UK, and be able to use my phone over there.
